YOU OK StoneFly???

Ya Bessy, were ok. Fire started about 1/2 mile from our house, over in Blackhawk. Burned south and east away from us. Went over the hill and down into Milburn. I heard this morning there were homes lost. Hats off to those air tankers they were awsome

CComing home from work about an hour ago could see huge flames mabey 200 yards from homes in Milburn. They have ordered evacuation$ for hideaway, where i live, south of the ridge road. I am 400 yards north of ridge road. I have my trailer hooked up to my truck. And ready to go. D@mn wind is now blowing right from the mountain in my face. My daughter and her 3 boys are going to my ssister's in orem. Cant get Littlebuck to go with them. She wants to stay here as loag as2we can.

Today the fire has stayed on the east side of the mountain. And the winds have been in our favor. Yesterday when we were loading up our trucks and trailers, they sent in a huge air tanker. I dont know much about airplanes, the fire fighters told me it was a 747., anyway, we could see flames on the top, and huge plumes of black smoke, that tanker flew right over our house,it made the windows shake. He made 1 turn, following a smaller plane in, and dumped that red fire retardant along the edge of the fire, for what i guess a mile,it was a perfect hit, in 15 minuets no flames and only white smoke. Wish i could.get phone videos to post. It was really amazing. About 8pm the winds changed and blew the fire back down the east side. We could see the firemens flashlights all night and trucks and side by sides going up and down the mountain all night. Gator, if the fire comes, it will come from the east, our escape route would be either south or west. If we become endangered we can leave in an instance.
Thank you guys for your concerns,my family and I appreciate them.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-09-18 AT 05:30PM (MST)[p]Definitely not a 747. The 747-400 Supertanker (which finally got approval to operate in the U.S. just recently) is seeing action in California right now. As far as I know it has never dropped here in Utah. It is operated by Global Supertanker out of Colorado Springs. That's really irrelevant though. The tanker pilots are amazing and they do an amazing job! I have a friend that owns a cabin right off the highway at Milburn. I hope things are okay for him and for all the other property owners down there!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-09-18 AT 05:48PM (MST)[p]most likely a DC10....but this is a 747

Certainly could have been a DC-10. They frequently fly here in Utah. If it was indeed a Tri-Jet then it was a DC-10. If it was a Quad-Jet I suspect it was probably a BAe-146 (they look a lot bigger then they are when they are flying in low for a drop).
