Utah Firefigter dead fighting Mendocino Fire

Just heard on the radio this morning coming in there is another firefighter dead in the largest fire in California History.

My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

Dam dangerous job ! I haven't heard what happened but a lot of those trees that were burnt never fell over and they will eventually.

My heart goes out to his family and all the fire fighters fighting these fires. One of my cousins is with Cal Fire and is on this fire complex. This fire is huge. The state and the feds are now pouring in the resources to put it out. If you've never been to this area it's hard to imagine how difficult it is to fight a fire in this area. Steep mountains and deep valleys with few roads.

From a Volunteer Fire Chief in Utah who sends out guys every summer for assignments on incidents in California, Idaho, Wyoming and hear in Utah it is my greatest fear i will get a call that something has happened to one of my guys. Today i fell very deeply saddened by the news i heard this morning.
Lets all just remember we all our trying to do are part to make this world a little bit better place to live.

Very sad.

I have friends in Law Enforcement and in Fire Fighting

I always cringe when I hear about a death or wounding for fear of it being one of them type deal.

Monday is the funeral I heard for this poor fellow.

I took a hit from that pink flame retardant one time. It was like being covered in snot...all slimy. I felt fire proof for a couple days until I had a chance to change clothes.
