Too many of them aren't fitting what I think is a western. And, not too many movies with John Wayne. Oh well.

?Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."

#72. Saving America?s Horses: A Nation Betrayed

?Saving America?s Horses: A Nation Betrayed? portrays in graphic detail the mistreatment and frequent slaughter of unwanted horses. A number of celebrities lent their voices to support the message of this film, like Willie Nelson, Paul Sorvino, and Linda Gray.

Should be in the top 5.

Open Range is my number one. Best gun fight ever to end a movie.

They could have left brokeback mountain off the list. My buddy shot a antelope buck off the back of another buck antelope. We call that area Brokeback mountain and no one knows where we are taking about

I especially like costner's 20 round 45 colt revolver. I'm buyin the next one I come across before they're banned! :D. The Duke made a couple hundred movies, if he ain't in 50 of the 100 it's a flawed list.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-05-18 AT 01:14PM (MST)[p]WTH, Brokeback Mountain at #11. I've not seen it and will never watch it, but there's no way it's a western.
I would have put Once Upon a Time in the West in the top ten.

Runnoft- Brokeback Mountain is a good one. It is considered a Western due to the amount of bareback in the movie.

Didn't look at the list but I hope Unforgiven and Tombstone are at least in the top 8.

Cancer doesn't discriminate...don't take your good health for granted because it can be gone in a heartbeat. Please go back and read the last line. This time really understand what it says.

List is severely flawed, many are not true westerns. I can't believe The Magnificent 7 is not listed among the greats.

Generally, I prefer the old westerns, but there are a few newer
ones that are pretty damn good.

I've been fortunate over the years to meet a number of the old timers, and a few new comers, in a few of these movies.

Tombstone has it all ! The great story, excellent cast and it evokes all different feelings. I have watched that movie maybe 15 times.I love High Plains Drifter and any Duke westerns with True Grit and The Cowboys being at the top.

I watch a lot of western some of those first ones I have never heard of. But I am a John Wayne kind of guy. My dogs name is even Duke ! I couldn't name a number one.

>You got that right Slammy. And
>Longmire is really good too
>although a lot of murders
>for a small town.

Lmao.....that was my thoughts on Longmire to, DM.
I always thought "At the rate of a murder in every episode in a town that small, they'll all be extinct in no time at all!!?

Didn't look at the list, but watched Pale Rider this afternoon and it was just as good as the first time I saw it. Eastwood is a cut above imo

Was "Shane" on the list?

How To Hunt Coues Deer

Is Tombstone really that bad not to make the top 100? Man, I must be way too young or something.

Somebody that compiled that list doesn't know Jack about Westerns..since we are done hunting..let's compile pur own Western list...give us something else to argue about..HEHEHE

>Where did Lonesome Dove fall?
> That's one of my
>favorites. So many great
>one liners!

That's probably my favorite mini-series of all time. It's the only thing I can really binge-watch.
