Bobcat or Bess, your hunch is right. Was able to re-furbished it with new handle scales and a clean up on the carbon steel blade. Trying to find out from Beckie if they received it yet.

I will per her know. Also, we got both in the mail. The one for a gift was perfect. Amazing wood on both but that knife in particular.

Anyone who appreciates master craftsmanship and knifes should to themself a favor and treat themself to a Hatfield knife.

Bobcat, I added a new paragraph to my knife maintance instructions. "Do not put a custom knife in the dishwasher"
would you believe at the same time I refurbished 1911's knife, a local buyer brought in a custom Damascus knife I made for him. He gave it to this son as a present. The son or his girlfriend cleaned it in the dishwasher and it had several rust spots on the blade. Handle scales were alright. Had to polish out the rust spots and immerse the blade in a acid bath to bring out the black-silver detail of the Damascus.
