I booked a summer trip drop camp in the Crags. The wife doesn't backpack but she wanted to ride horses so I chose this amazingly cool area for our adventure. I know it will be cool just wondering if anyone had a cool story to share.
We are getting a 12 mile ride and then picked up 4 days later.
I have to tell her the bears, wolves and lions won't get us. Or at least the Pepper Spray and the Sig will keep us safe.
I'm excited to take a nice camera for this trip. We get 150 lbs of gear weight.

Summer,You must be Fishing?

Looks like Awesome Country!

Have Fun!

I know so many people in so many places
They make allot of money but they got sad faces

It Ain't Easy being Me!:D:D:D

Hope you do a bunch of riding before hand or you might be a LITTLE stiff after a 12 miles ride in.
They do make a sheepskin pad that will help you.

I looked at their site. How did you pick what lake(s) to go to? There are around 40 lakes? I would go to the lake with the biggest Rainbows and take a small raft...lol Beautiful country no matter what.

Eel,
I called him because I had heard some rumors about some lakes there. It was in the range of 12 miles which is about the max for a drop camp 1 day so the guide can make it back out the same day.
There are many good lakes to fish there and yes I am taking in a small raft for sure. Almost 50 lakes total. I am really happy my wife will go. She has been on ATVs with me into the high country and one horse trip to the Upper Palisades Lakes 8 years ago.
The Bighorn Crags are a different story- they are less traveled and have better fishing than the ATV traveled lakes .
I never made it to the High Uinta lakes when I lived in Utah.

Totally envious DM. Gorgeous country. I believe you have picked a good outfitter. They have a ton of experience in there anyway. I agree tho that 12 miles is gonna leave you saddle sore.

You are limited to 150 Pounds.

A full keg of beer weighs approximately 170lbs. I would need Clydesdale Horses to be my Pack in Team(s).

Jagerdad :) :) :)

My son has bumped in to them a few times up there.

Keep your eye open for sheep, goats and wolves. Should be fun.
