Nice bull, congratulations. How about the story of your hunt?

What's that white stuff on the ground? It was 68 degrees a few weeks ago when I was hunting over there.

Ok where to start. I am actually a sub guide here in Eastern Nevada I am on the far left of the picture, my brother is also a sub guide and we were just helping out our buddies from Reno. The late Rifle hunt started on November 21st, the first day of the hunt we could not see a single thing bc as you can see the snow on the ground. The dog was set right in on the valley floor along with record snow fall for this time of year (10"). So November 22 and 23 we seen a big six point that we tried to get on him for over two days, just couldn't close the deal. Thick trees, freezing temperatures, hunter was exhausted from the steep mountain terrain. The Evening hunt of the 23rd I guided my brother and the hunter right in to where the elk were. The spotted the elk bedded down in some thick aspen trees. Just a reminder there was four bulls together the big six point a six five and two little rag fours. So they spotted the elk bedded down and called on the radio and said we are 90 yards from the elk. It was almost dark so my brother whistled to get the elk to stand up, sure enough all the elk stood up in the trees the first elk walked out it was the six five. They were waiting patiently for the big six six to step out but all he did was come and stuck his neck out then turned around and went back into the trees. The dark set in so they were walking off the mountain with no luck from 90 yards.

The next morning was November 24 we set back out on the ice covered roads and went back to the same spot to see if we could glass up any of the elk, with over 2 hours of looking on this mountain we decided to move on since the morning hunt would be over soon. So we drove north up spring valley looking up every little nook and cranny, just could pick anything up big enough to go after. Finally at about 10:00 that morning I spotted the elk in the picture all by himself right before he went into some thick trees all I could tell was he was a big bull. So again I dropped my brother and the hunter off and the guiding was on. I finally spotted the elk again and started telling my brother wear to go. On the hike up to the bull the hunter took a nasty fall on some snow covered rocks. They finally for into position to wear they could see the elk 312 yards. Brother called on the radio said we are going to take a shot. First shot rang off and the bull stood there like nothing happened then slowly started to walk off. Second and third shots were fired. Still the elk didn't look like he was hit. Then a fourth shot right before he hit a big group of thick trees.

I moved my position and finally spotted the bull in the thick trees laying down. He looked wounded. So I told my brother to go see if they could find some blood where they first shot then follow the tracks. There was little specs of blood that was it. I finally hiked up below the bull and found a opening were he could come get another shot at the bull laying down. Finally the hunter and my brother show up. 340 yards away he shot 4 more times and the bull didn't even move, all four shots were a miss again. I had to call back to the truck with our buddies watching all this thru a spotting scope and said bring more bullets. A half hour later we had a hole box of shells with us. Come to find out from taking his hard fall it knocked the scope off at 100 yards it was shooting about 6" low and 3' to the left. So we finally shot again from 340 yards 5 more times and the bull was finally dead. We walked up on the hill and took pictures with this heavy horned beauty. My brother and me started skinning and capping him out at 2:00 and we made it back to the truck right before dark 4:35. This bull has huge first mass measurements of 10 1-8" and 10 2/8". Thanks for reading this exciting hunt story. Damn guns anyways. This bull never would of hit the snow if it wasn't for my brother and me!!! Thanks guys

Haha you sir are who gives guides bad names.. "Me this, then I did, so it made me do this, then I did this, so I told him to do this, and because of me the bull is dead.. So here is me with the bull.. Oh I almost forgot, the client is happy" I think we all would pat your back but your hand is in the way..
