"Manti le bull"

I need some help. My uncle drew a le big bull tag. He is a police officer for salt lake county. And does not get ahole of time off or time to scout. My brother and I have been scouting as much as we are able to. I know how people are I don't want to know where you tree stand is or your favorite canyon. But I would really like to help my uncle out. In my scouting I have found a few small I mean small bulls a a bunch of cows. Could some one point me in a good direction so I can help my uncle out?

Archery has traditionally been a tough hunt but this year you should get into the rut with the later dates.

If he has limited time to hunt you probably want to concentrate on the back end of the hunt.

Great thing about the Manti is there are elk in many of the canyons. I've spent most of my time hunting from Fairview to Manti off of skyline drive. It is a rare day in Sept that I don't find elk. You can pick a canyon off of skyline drive and find a vantage point at first light to glass from. Focus on the canyons without roads or ATV trails. About half of the years you'll start to find elk moving lower during the rut - down to the quaking aspen - oak brush transition. Skyline drive north of Fairview also holds excellent numbers of elk and makes for a shorter drive from SLC.

A bunch of country burned along Huntington Canyon several years back, I wouldn't be surprised if the elk are taking advantage of the fresh range there. It is pretty steep but that may help with the pressure.

Best of luck.

You can literally find bulls in every canyon off of skyline. My advise is drop into some of the ones less traveled. The smaller canyons, foot traffic only. You'll find bulls if you know what you're doing.

Tough draw this year. Have hunted the area many times. I had a friend last year that had the archery tag and he had at least 6 semi close encounters but just couldn't close the gap. He said the rut had not kicked into full swing yet and it was tough to get inside 100y of any bull. Diamond mountain over water is always a good option.
