LAST EDITED ON Oct-09-16 AT 05:31PM (MST)[p]So I'm new to Utah, and my hunting buddies got general season tags and I could only get a spike tag. I'm willing to work hard to harvest an animal and fill my tag, and I'm not looking for a handout, but if any of y'all are willing to give me some tips on units to go to I'd truly appreciate it. I've scouted out some areas and haven't had any luck. I know the season has already began and this may be a long shot, but I figure it never hurts to ask for some help. Please feel free to PM me. Good luck for all those who are hunting this season!! And thanks for the help in advance!

The units I know best are Wasatch, Manti, and Fish Lake. All of them have lots of elk. Spike hunting is extremely difficult though. I'd guess you need to spend a week or more on one of the units. Pick a high glassing point where you can see for miles. Get there before light. Find the herds of elk and you might (MIGHT!) find a spike in there. Then you've gotta figure out how to get from your glassing spot to where the elk will be after you hike down a ridgeline or across a canyon.

I'll send you a PM with a couple ideas.

Ha ha. Just playing with you to see if you stick around. Find the cows in any unit and look them over real good. Good luck.
