Cow elk wyoming

I am sitting at 4 PP for elk in Wyoming and really don't have enough points for better units. I was thinking about doing a cow elk hunt in some of the better units instead. The only thing that is holding me back is the cost. I could go down to Colorado and hunt OTC bull tag cheaper. Anyways I do think it would be a fun elk, see some nice bulls and put meat in the freezer. Can someone give me some insight to Wyoming cow elk hunting? I am a little late to the game with PP but young enough that I should have some good hunts coming up in the next few years. But in the mean time would like to get my and family out hunting.

$300 for a type 6 and no points used. November/December is the better time.

Can some explain the difference between type 7 and type 6 cow tags?

Usually type 7 are different dates or certain restrictions. Type 6 can also have restrictions.

I would look at the General hunt. You could party apply with someone that doesn't have any points and still draw. Lots of good places to hunt Bulls and shoot a cow if the bulls elude you.

Pretty simple my friend, Apply for your Day-Dream tag 1st choice and then do the Cow tag 2nd choice if there is NO option for the Reduced Price Cow/calf tag with in your daydream unit.
