My dad just called. He lives in Mapleton at the Mouth of Hobble Creek Canyon. His house is right on the edge of the hill before you drop down into the stream bed so he has a a great view of the side hill above Springville. He has been watching a heard of close to 100 elk all day including many bulls, when all of a sudden while he is watching a Helicopter comes in circles a few times sends all the elk off running then the helicopter heads up Hobble Creek Canyon.

With the amount of snow they have and how weakend the animals already are I sure as hell hope this wasn't the DWR doing a count on elk.

This morning, all the elk were milling around quite low and hardly any tracks up higher. This afternoon most were quite a bit higher and the tracks were helter skelter up high. Did he call it in? The elk seem to be getting around pretty well but the deer aren't moving much with the snow up to their bellys.

So that's where all the Wasatch herd went. I long suspected they was chasing them over to Deseret! Elk, So what do you know about this guy driving the chopper? Looks to me like he's posing.

I seen the exact same thing around 10am on the 18th of January. A really nice and expensive Black helicopter circling Dry Mountain (North of Nebo) over and over for around 45 minutes. Down real low and covering every nick and crook on the mountain. I chalked it up to the statewide tag holder, not the DWR. I don't think that the DWR would disturb anything on that mountain that severely.

For a people who are free, and who mean to remain so, a well-organized and armed militia is their best security.

It was really odd to see that helicopter scatter the elk and deer. Wow did they struggle to make it through that deep snow.
It pushed a herd of about 100 elk over 3 miles...it was nuts.

take a picture or better a video and get the helicopter number. It is wildlife harassment and they will get fined. unless it was DWR, then they can do what they needed to do.

I live in CO. My kitchen Windows provide me a great view of winter range for elk. In years past I've seen helicopters harassing wintering elk herds. Last year I called the local DOW office and was informed that they were doing a herd count.
It was the worst example of harassment I've ever seen.
