Trying to find someone with horses/mules that is able to help pull an elk (or two) out of NM 16b during the September 15-24 archery hunt. Any leads would be a tremendous help. Thank you.

Ditto.
There are several folks around Reserve who will pack animals.
Unless your just going in a couple miles each day from the edge I would arrange a pack animal for an elk. Even from there it could take 3 days to get the meat out.

Have hunted 16B many times. Unfortunately if you are several miles in there is no cell service. You have 2 days in hot weather before your elk spoils.
When I have hunted 16B we had horses with us and coolers full of block ice at the truck.
Shot a bull at dark and didn't recover him till morning. had him boned and packed on the horses by 9am and back to the truck by 5pm. Some of the meat was a little green but he ate ok. Couldn't have waited any longer.

Even with all this advice, people still won't listen. Happens in Pecos all the time to.

Call Tom Klumker at San Francisco River Outfitters. Last time I hunted there his daughter was still running the drop camp hunts out of Willow Creek trailhead.

I have solo DIY hunted it twice. However, I have chosen to rifle hunt rather than archery since the chance for cooler weather on a later hunt is better for me to get an elk out alone. First year I packed a bull from Lilly mountain out to Loco mountain trailhead. Second time I packed a bull from Whitewater mountain out to Willow Creekt trailhead. Both pack outs took a full day and were BRUTAL but rewarding.

I met Toms daughter on my second hunt at the trailhead and she offered to help me pack my elk but I only had one trip left so thanked her but declined. Very nice and helpful though. I have heard nothing but great things about their services. I'm not sure of their availability during archery season though.

As mentioned above, trailheads in 16b are far from civilization and from cell service. You would need to hike out and drive an hour or so to get cell coverage and then wait for a packer to even get to the trailhead and then pack in to your elk. That could take a day before they even get to your elk. Plan accordingly.

Glad you are going into this prepared.

Klumker definitely first choice but sounds like they have a busy year.
Try Joe Bice (575) 740-2955
If he's available, rent a sat phone, call as soon as you harvest and he'll be in next day with mules to pack it out. Make sure you haggle out the total price before hand no matter who you decide to use.
