Second year doing archery elk and got an awesome bull.
We were on our way back to the truck after a day of not seeing much of anything other than a herd of elk at the top of a mountain where mountain goats should be and a few other cows. We decided we would try something different than what we were used to and instead of staying in the open and glassing then stalking elk, we decided to go through the trees at an attempt of getting into bedded elk. We were headed towards a large patch of thick timber when we look up the ravine we were in and see a good looking 5x5 he kind of trots off but we cut him and his herd off and get in to about 100 yards. I decided to start doing aggressive bugles and tearing up trees with a stick to be like another bull that just broke into his house. This got my bull to come into fifty yards for a shot opportunity. I hit a little far back but he crossed the ridge and went down in the open. Hopefully this season will be just as fun.

That's awesome great harvest with a bow in what looks like wide open country.

Do you have any other pictures of the drop club?

Sticksender, yea this was my first elk, I didn't know he had the droptine until he looked at me while I was at full draw. That got my nerves going a bit haha.

Brewster, the area I elk hunt is pretty open which is fun cause I get to see a ton of elk but i shot this one just over the ridge in the background where there are actually quite a few trees. Here's a picture of the euro mount I did of him. His drop tine is 13 inches long and he has 10 1/2 inch bases on his right side

Nice job on the unique bull! Hopefully he's hooked for life.
