can a non resident with ten seasons experience have a decent chance in central montana around little belt mountains region, trying to kill a bull diy solo? i have never hunted montana but i bought a gen season elk tag before they sold out and want to hunt the central part of the
state.i just don't know anything about the terrain, hunting pressure, public land, etc to decide if its worth the try. i have been on week long hiking trips that were very expensive before because i didn't research the hunt ahead of time. does anyone have any insight or suggestions on this area? should i try somewhere else? thanks preston gray

Greetings! I'm curious to know if you went through with this trip and if so how you did, what you saw. I'm interested in trying mule deer/ Elk DIY on the south eastern side of the little belt mtn?s. Thanks! Jim.

If you know how to hunt and have the time, both elk and deer can be taken there...even some monster muleys during the mid November to end of November rut. When I lived there I never seriously started deer hunting till mid November.
