Thanks for the kind replies. I took the time to return to an area that I had hunted many years in the past with my boys this year. It was a doit your self over the counter Colorado tag. We packed in on our own about 9 miles and on day 3 of our hunt we entered a box canyon and glassed the mountain side and spotted this bull standing clear at the top against a rock shear with 20 cows below him. We decided to go for it but only one boy could come with and I wanted one to stay low to keep an eye on the bull and possibly get a shot at a cow. Rock paper scissors decidedly who would make the climb with me. We climbed up the mountain about a half mile up from the bull and got on top of the rock face and worked our way towards the bull looking in every cutout in the rocks for it looked a little different from the top and we're not sure exactly which won he was in. Finally my boy peeked over the edge, leaned back and I seen him draw and stood back up and released. He new right away he slammed him and the hugging began. We watched the bull desend the mountain and layed down about half way and died. Being late in the day we cleaned him and headed back to camp and returned the next day with two of our mules and packed him out. Great hunt that I will never forget with my boys
