Hello all,
I am in need of new chains.

Any upgrades in quality chains over the last several years?
What are you guys running on your vehicles and why did you go with that brand and style?

Thank you.

I bought the ones below last year for my f350. So far I've only put them on at home for practice. They are handy with the cam adjusters. I have 305/70-18 tires and they fit well. They are very snug and don't require any bungee cords. I'm hunting Colorado 3rd season this year. Hopefully I won't need to use them but, it's nice to know they are in my toolbox. One thing about big chains, they are HEAVY!

As previously stated Get the heavier tire chains with the cam locks period. Nothing worse than dropping into a hole only to break a chain or break the inside hook on cheap chains trying to come out of a hole getting back to camp. Some parts shops for semi trucks here in Reno have been a great resource for tire chains. Don't mess around, I have staighted out the inside hook chained up on cheap chains on a diesel truck in the first hundred yards of getting thru a snow bank. Took them back Asap and went with the cam-locks and never worried again!!

If the conditions could be packed snow and ice I'd get the heavy v-bar chains. They make a big difference if you're on ice.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-30-17 AT 05:35PM (MST)[p]Be sure and check the owners manual on the truck you have. Many new trucks won't handle the heavy duty chains on the front tires. Not enough room to turn without hitting brake lines etc. I got the heavy chains for the back tires and a set of light chains for the front of mine.

If you ask me, anyone who designs a 4x4 truck that can't handle chains shouldn't be designing trucks

Cant speak for everyone but I put chains on my older 2001 Tundra but you do have to run a little narrower tire than most guys think "look" good. There is very little room between the upper arm and the tire and if your have wide tires the chain will rub. One of the best off road trucks I have owned I dont like putting chains on but they are always with me to get out of a jam or deeper into LOL!!! Love chains if you are in the mtns you best have a set ya just never know... it only took 1 $900 tow bill for me to have a set for every truck I own
