I just bought my 9th point for Elk. I am 61 will be 62 by next Elk season. Need help on where to put in next year for a diy hunt.I am From AZ. and only hunted Lope up there 3 years ago. Would pay tresspass fee if worth it. Looking at rifle only as I have a bad shoulder and gave up the Bow, Thought I would start early looking for Ideas as the damn deadline sneaks up on us.I can help with AZ. and some NEW Mex. info if needed. Looking at as good a Quality as possble and maybee some help. We will see! Thanks in advance also.......BULL!

Wyoming allows crossbow for anyone on archery hunts. I'd look at a outfitter and get into some wilderness area. Sorry I'm not more help.

Crossbow would be a good option for you. No need for a wilderness hunt to get on a good bull. Lots of areas have great population numbers right now.
9 PP gets you into many good areas without need for an outfitters or trespass fee hunt.
The Bighorns and LQ areas in Snowies are good areas, no grizz and wolves. Varied terrain in both.

If you want a DIY hunt I'd look at 45. I think 9 points would draw it.

Any of the units in the NW corner are great if ya don't mind hunting with grizzlies & wolves. Not many tags offered but, the odds are decent. Yes, most of the units have wilderness but, most of them also have plenty of public land to hunt. 54 has no wilderness & some great elk hunting. With your points I'd also look at 61 & 63/64. The desert units in southern Wyoming are good units but take max points. Unit 16 can also be very good. Good luck.

Any help is Good.At my age I would have normally paid an outfftter but in the last 10 years lost 2 houses ,good piece of land in New Mex. and Divorced from Wife of 35 years and had some health issues. Not a sob story ,just the truth.I will do the best I can. And My divorce comes from Me hunting to much....Hey its in my blood.........BULL.
