Looks like they get those hunts done long before the migration. Gotta let the cows that spend there whole life with minimal pressure rest. How come it got taken down.

CWMU=Private land welfare scam. I wonder if the guy that had the Chimney Rock tag has the combos to the gates. Maybe he could go have a good day of hunting by himself. May even find some sheds to.

So weird about Chimney Rock. I heard and read the exact opposite!!

I assume that thread was taken down due to the fact that he put the operators name and other businesses on the post.

I think it's BS it was deleted, he was warning people about that operation, as far as his other business, if he treats any "customer" that way in any business, his others are probably ran in the same consideration for others.

Kapp auto sales was it?

Is there regulations on how many days they must let the public land hunters have access and or hunt or is that between the hunter and landowner and what they work out?
I know the OP of the other thread got 2 days only.

I was told about how great a cwmu was out grouse creek area, but after 12 phone calls not returned, I gave up. Filed a complaint and I got the response back that the operator was busy and just getting ready to call me back. Some cwmus just aren't great,I was looking at the two bear cwmu and it doesn't even let you take a guest

Get a guide if you want to hunt 2 bear they will rake you through the coals if not.

Stay away from Grouse creek I hunted there a couple of years ago for deer and after 7 days we had only seen one buck between the four of us.
That being said I never saw one elk the whole time but after a snow storm we saw cat tracks in four different canyons and no other animals tracks at all.

I tell everyone I know that is considering applying for any cwmu tag this: If you don't know someone who guides it, hunts it, or has hunted it, don't even think about it.

It's unfortunate that there are a few units that give the whole program a black eye. Lots of good units out there that can provide some really great hunts for less points than some of the LE units, but you need to get references from someone that's been there first.

I realize some people might play games with a review process to protect a "sleeper" CWMU, but I wish the DWR had more than just the satisfaction rating system, it would be great if we could read actual first had reviews from hunters. I know there are a few great ones that treat the public/draw hunters very well, but it sure seems like a lot of them don't.
