My 2 daughters just drew out on the Utah youth bull elk hunt that runs from September 15-23 with any legal weapon. I can't wait for this hunt! Should be a blast! I have always hunted elk in Idaho. Any suggestions or tips on making this hunt a success for my first time hunters? These girls are part mountain goat and aren't afraid to put in some hard work for a rewarding hunt! Thanks in advance!

Both daughters drew? That's great. Just play you cards right and you will do fine. Do your research. When my boy drew that tag. We had a area that went from a limited entry to a general unit. We where the first ones in with a rifle. Or find a area that the limit entry guys push the big bulls over on to a general unit. Have a great time !

2013 I got a phone call on a boy that drew this same tag and we headed out and called a really nice 6 point in from 400 yards and he shot it at 80 yards The bull screamed all they way in

2014 a friend of mine had 2 cousin their boys drew the tag and opening day I called in a nice 6 point screaming the whole way and shot it at 40 yards but then I had to go back to work and didn't get a chance to fill the other tag

2015 we had two tags and opening day I called in a spike and the kid shot it at 30 yards

That evening we headed out with the other youth hunter and I called in a 5x6 in to 40 yards and he smoked it.

2016 I didn't help any youth because I drew my LE tag so I focus on that

2017 I had 1 youth and 1 disable hunter

I took the girl youth hunter out opening morning we had bull's screaming but couldn't seal the deal so re group and went into another location that evening and had 5 bulls screaming and pulled small rag horn bull away from the herd and into 50 yards and she smoked it and we have that hunt all on video I will see if they will let me share it

later in the week I took a disable hunter out and I had 3 bulls screaming and called a small rag horn in and he shot it at 80 yards

I'm not a guide or and outfitter I just really enjoy teaching and helping out the youth message me if your interested

PM me I have a question on the youth hunt. I have a 12 year old who plays football, and will have 4 days to hunt. I coverered 500 miles plus this weekend looking at land. thanks

Your the second person that had 2 Youths draw the tag.

I am working with the other that his son and daughter drew the Youth tag.

Very kool indeed.

I am hoping I get this through! My daughter drew this tag as well. We had a friend say he would take her and just recently baled on us! I didn't scout because of this. And to compound the issue I can't hike because of torn ligaments! I am looking for anyone or information that would help me make this a great experience for my daughter.
