Idaho muzzleloader elk

I'm deciding if I want to apply for a muzzy elk hunt in Idaho this year. I've been looking for information but there's just not a lot out there they I've found. I've been looking at units 66 and 39, but I am open to other units, just wondering if anyone had any info they would be willing to share.
Thanks

If you put in for 66 I have some great info for you. We saw some great bulls when we hunted it a couple years ago. Pm me

I drew a muzzleloader tag for 66. Could you give me some ideas from your hunt a couple of years ago. I am hunting with my brother-in-law. He has called elk, both bulls and cows, but neither of us is familiar with the area. We can also hunt in Unit 69, but a lot of it is private land.

Looking for trophies or any elk???

Lots of roads, lots of ATV trails too. That said, there are immense chunks where you will be by yourself for days. Find a place to park, walk in before dark and have a great hunt. The ES deer hunt opens 10/05 so hit it early!

66 has motorized access restrictions during hunting season, so beware. Spikes and raghorns will be plentiful, but you'll have to hike into some of the nasty spots to find a good bull. An army of OTC archery hunters will have call educated the bulls in 66 pretty good by then.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-30-18 AT 08:09PM (MST)[p]I also have a 66 muzz tag this year. Looks like roads are on top of the mountains and it could be difficult to get away from all the pressure. should be a decent hunt for average bulls. I will be hanging some cameras in the next few weeks.

Make friends with the hound hunters, when you see them up driving the roads. They are going to be in every corner for the whole month of Sept, but can't run their dogs in Oct. They will be lots of info, if they run into elk.
