UT CWMU HUNT?

Guys I'm looking for an outfitter to take my mother on a guided elk hunt. I've been hunting elk for 20 years with my father and two brothers and even though she went along on a couple diy public land archery hunts in CO she's never been close to an elk and has never hunted them herself. She will be 65 next fall (2019) and can shoot a rifle well (hunted whitetails in WI for the past 40 years). My two brothers and myself surprised her with this hunt for her birthday this month and I'm the one doing the research to find the right outfitter. I like the idea of UT so she can hunt with a rifle during the rut. Our budget is around $10k and we will be going along with her to film and enjoy the hunt together. We aren't looking for the biggest bull on the mountain, with hopefully some rutting action, and a decent to good 6pt opportunity. So, What outfitters would you recommend me calling and doing some research on??

Thanks,

That sounds like a great time for your family. But for a big bull tag you maybe a little short. Most of the big bull tags at auction or even on a good bull unit usually go above the 15 thousand dollar mark. Not to say you couldn't get a cwmu tag for ten. But it wont be the biggest bull on the mountain. It would be more then likely a tougher unit to hunt with low quality bulls. But if I hear of something good I will send it your way. Some outfitters have some pull with land owners. You may want to hire one and see what tag he can get for you. Every so often you see a bull tag go for 12,500 or so at some of the banquets. But I think that is as low as I have seen them. Good luck to you and your family. Keep us posted on the hunt for the tag.
