Never hunted Paunsaugant ,think I was looking at deer and punched elk anyways not even sure I put in for this tag but I got it ,so now I need to find out if any one knows where they are in Archery season .Been hunting close to house in Panguitch Lake for some time so am familiar with some areas of Paunsaugant /Bryce seen lots of big deer but never seen an Elk down around Bryce any help greatly appreciated .Thx

There are so many flaws in your story I dunno where to begin. But you most definitely applied for it, that's why you have the tag. Prove other wise and post your application email.

This is why they have you review all your apps at the end of the process to double check and catch any errors that might have been made before you hit submit.

I have tried to avoid individuals like your self (by not using fioruns )who seem to not comprehend the issue ,all I'm asking for is if anyone has any idea where elk may be in the Pansaugant area not a lesson on filling out tag info ,obviously completely disregarded in you spiteful rebuke ..To anyone else that may have some relevant information as to Elk habitat in Paunsaugant area in August your help would be greatly appreciated Thank you .

Good luck in your search, sorry I don't know the unit or would share some info. Never mind deerkiller, he seems to have issues.

I need a bunch of info to so im gonna drive the 5-6 hours this weekend and find out myself! You live close enough you should hope in a rig and go look.

10-4 I am doing that also but to be clear I am in Utah most weekends still working in Nevada but appreciate the help . I am scouting the Bryce and north ends of Paunsaugant area . Thanks will report back in after this weekend

Good luck and have fun in your research. . In scouting mid summer for spots to hunt Aug/Sep I'm just looking for last year rubs not critters .

Hope you didn't throw away to many points. Luckily the Pauns does not have very many elk to compete with the deer. This year I drew the ML elk hunt down there with eight points. In talking to a person I know who guides down there I was told there were two large bulls on the Pauns last year and they both got shot. He said this year might be a pretty lean year for large bulls. One good thing about it is you can get your points back by surrendering your permit. It will cost you $25.00 though. Those elk move quite a bit. Check the top from Wilson Peak, south to the rim. You will find them in the flats, before the sun comes up and after the sun goes down.

A spike.....seriously any bull with branch antlers is a shooter. I've had much better hunts on general tags. IMO this should not be a LE unit, it's not worth any points to draw it and then you have to wait 5 years to apply for a decent unit after the waiting period. I live near the unit and have spent a lot of time on it. Have hunted it 3 different times between myself and family members, let's just say we've all learned our lesson. Good luck, but if you had any points you may consider turning that tag back in.

I drew the muzzy deer down there. I have been down 3 times since I have found out learning the country. I have saw elk every time I have went. I don't know much about where they will move to for the hunt but I can let you know if I find anything big.

Thanks for the support I am scouting it this weekend also. As one of you mentioned earlier not sure I'm going to keep this tag ,may turn it in if nothing seen .I am 63 so better to get my 9 bonus PT?s back and put in area I know where they are than risk a no show and lose 5 more years till I can draw again .Just a time Managemnet issue. Thank guys will let you know .

The unit pulls the occasional 340-360 bull. It used to a couple a year. I have hunted this unit several times for bull elk. Unless you have a particular spotted and dialed in, I would take the above advice and shoot the first branch antler bull you see. Not a very good unit and definitely not a trophy unit.

I just got back from being down there for 4 days. I actually seen a lot of elk. I seen 8 bulls together that had one really nice bull, already 12 inches on his 6th. 4 others that where out to big 5 points with time to grow. Good luck

My son drew the tag by mistake last year as well. He decided to keep it.
We scouted a couple days before the hunt and never saw an elk and only cut one herds older tracks.
Opening day we stayed in that area of the tracks.
Around 10 am we got really lucky and a herd of 18 cows two satellites and a herd bull fed up the valley right to us and bedded. We sat on them for 4 hours trying to decide if he should take the heavy 5x5 herd bull. He finally decided to and took the shot at a little over 450 yards and dropped him in his tracks. PM me and I will try and help you if you decide to keep the tag. We came down there from North Dakota, beautiful country down there and really good folks. Turned out to be a hunt of a lifetime for both of us.

I would get ahold of johnathan roundy out of Glendale he might help you for a little cash. Jeremy Houston from kanab might do it as well for some coin.

Went out on the Paunsy spotlighting for a couple of days and nights. Seen some very nice bucks and a few elk, but no bulls.
