Ok, so as many have started their post, I will too...can anyone give me any info on NM-16E for elk? We had a suicide in the immediate family and I've not been able to get away to scout. I'm not looking for ?honey holes?, hot spots or any freebies. I just need to get pointed in the right direction. Some people say hunt high, some say hit the flats, etc etc etc. I just have absolutely no clue. Thanks anyone.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Which hunt do you have? Very tough unit physically as well as mentally. Elk numbers aren't great and neither is quality anymore, especially this season. You will be limited to places to camp and will likely be in the middle of of a slew of ATVs everyday. Good luck

Thank you. I have the Oct 13-17 muzzleloader hunt. I've heard good, bad and everything in between. I'm not looking forward to all the quads and side-by-sides running around, but I guess it is what it is. I don't know what the monsoon season has done up in the mountains, but down in the central part (Las Cruces), the ?monsoon? has been a JOKE. I guess I'll go up and get familiar with the area any chance I get. I'm my opinion, scouting for numbers and herds, let alone specific animals is kind of a waste in the sense that as soon as the ATVs start rippin around and the shots starts popping off, everything changes. Gonna stay positive and look forward to walking my @$$ off. Thanks again!
