No offense. I don't know you.

I used to blame the state for issuing all these cow and spike tags.

But now I blame the people buying them.

Kinda looking me putting all the blame on government for illegal aliens, when part of it should be employees who hire them.

If you need to shoot, go kill coyotes. Be a real sportsman and leave the cows and spikes alone, quit buying into the states garbage excuses to continue selling more and more.

My Family and I have killed piles of Cow elk over the years and I am Damn proud of it. We've had great experiences and freezers full of delicious meat and I will not apologize to you or any one else for doing so.

Good to be proud of.

I'll rephrase. Back in the day they had a few draw cow tags. Now that number multiplied, plus you can just buy them. Not to mention these spike hunts. So add that up, a guy can legally kill 2 or 3 cows, a spike, and open bull every year.

All I'm saying is a person doesn't need more than 1 elk per year. So if you want to shoot females, fine. But pick one and no more. Or spikes. You pick spike, no cows or open bull. Vise versa. Pick one.
That's where The problem is. Nobody needs more that one elk to eat each year.

It's really none of your business how many elk, or anything else, I kill each year as long as I'm within the law. Most years my family kills at least 2 elk usually more. We have never wasted an ounce.

Nope, not my business at all. I made what some would call a controversial statement. 2 sides to the issue like most issues.
I didn't ask for info/numbers of all the cows you kill, you offered that up on your own.

But you make my entire point with your justification of: ?as long as I'm within the law?
The state keeps issueing more and more, and as long as folks are ?within the law?, they will keep buying and killing.

Not fact, but my observation, the ?law? is hurting the future of the sport for the next generations to come. Just use simple math.... it's linear... Keep increasing that quota = a number approaching zero.

Rubble your facts are skewed. You can get one bull tag only, spike or bull. You can get two cow tags max. I understand your point of thinking too many are being killed. But I'm one who will hunt cows and see nothing wrong with it to the point of not killing off too many to sustain the herds.
My 13 y/o son drew the youth any bull and a cow tag. Hope he fills both tags!

Ok. So 2 cows and a bull. Like I said, I don't condemn it. I'm just saying it's excessive. This year for example they doing 728 more due to dry year. Different excuse each year.

My observation is too many cows and spikes are being killed now to sustain herd. Look at the limited entry units as well as open bull units. They are substantially worse now, right or wrong?

Who are you to say how many elk someone should kill a year? I should kill 1 because you said so? I ha e six kids and a wife so how would killing one elk be enough food for the year? It's none of your ##### business if people are hunting legal. All this guy was doing was asking for help. So unless you are going to help and contribute then you need to learn to shut your dumb ass mouth because nobody wants to hear it.

I've shot 2 cows since August 18, leaving me with one elk tag left in my pocket... if I understand ruble right, does that make me a game hog? Even though I'm legally allow to do so in Utah this year?

Whata clown

Missing whole point.
Legal? Yes. Never questioned that.

big Picture. Is it or is it not evident it's catching up on any unit you look at.

Is it or is it not piss poor management.

For the amount of actual suitable habitat that utah has for elk the management is pretty dang good. Could it be better absolutely, could it be worse definitely.

But to say it is post poor is not correct. The state has the most elk it has ever recorded and if you dont like the management practices of the state go to a RAC meeting and suggest changes.
