Colorado Raftopoulus Ranch Unit 201

I'm sitting on a lifetime of points for elk and looking to cash them in this year- hence the queries.

I asked earlier about the Walker Ranch and have been receiving some great feedback- thank you!

Any thoughts or experiences with the Raftopoulus Ranch and their outfitting?

If you have the money it's a good option. Honestly if you're a competent elk hunter and the whole experience isn't based around the score you can save yourself a lot of money and have a great hunt on your own. There are piles of good bulls on public ground and they will screaming their heads off on October 1st so locating them isn't to difficult. If you know what your looking at a 340 plus bull is very standard if you stay off the trigger and don't whack the first 300in 6x6 that steps out like a lot of people do.

Yes- looking at first rifle Oct 1-11. Pretty certain that is the unit I am going to pull the tag in.

On another note- just heard about the Crazy French Ranch down by Trinidad. It used to be a RFW ranch- my brother and father hunted there years ago- that place had some awesome game as well. In January it was purchased for 25 million by some nature and conservancy fund- word is that CPW is going to manage it for trophy quality with limited tags- likely beginning in 2020. I don't want to wait another year.

Any feel for how early the two tracks will be open this year COBOY? I plan on a summer of learning the unit and spring fever is already getting severe with no horn hunting allowed.
