HI GUYS, WE ARE LEAVING FOR A LATE NOVEMBER PHEASANT,QUAIL AND WHITETAIL HUNT. I LIVE IN EAGLE IDAHO AND WAS WANDERING IF ANYONE HAS HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THE AREA IN KANSAS.ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS SO MUCH..

Prime pheasant country. We are just starting to cut wheat here and should start hearing back a little on phesant numbers. It has been a strange year weather wise so I am not sure how the hatch was.

You will have fun.

Some pretty good muleys in that area too.

PM me in the early fall and I'll give you a good report.

Thanks Trigger Happy for the info. Are you from the Utica area? I've heard that there are places to hunt, and that people will let you hunt if you ask, and follow the rules. We were going to go with an outfitter, but we found out later that he runs a shady operation, as far as telling the truth, so we thought we may try hunting on our own. I talked to a hunter from salt lake, and he had been there a couple of times before, and said the people were very friendly, and they had no problem finding places to bird hunt. Hopefully we can keep in touch and any information would be appreciated. thankyou,Rick...

LAST EDITED ON Jun-02-06 AT 08:47AM (MST)[p]I live in south central Kansas but know the whole state well. There are some nice folks that will let you hunt but I would not suggest the first couple of weeks of the season for your best odds on that. A lot of farmers have family or such they save their land for the first couple of weeks.

Having said that kansas has a very nice Walk In Hunting Program with a lot of very good pheasant ground. Go to KDWP website and check out the WIHA maps. Most of those counties have thousands of acres in the program. The new maps for 2006 normally are released in mid to late September but they will have last years still up where you can check it out.

We have just as good and sometimes better success on WIHA land than on a lot of the private stuff we hunt.
