We're doing Nootka Sound again this year and I hope it's better than last year. Muleyslyr, you doing Queen Charlotte's again? Anyone else have some good fishing trips planned for 2006?

My fishing trips start in February and run through November.
I really used to consider hunting my #1 passion, but with the fishing opportunities I have avaliable, well I find that I can take advantage of them nearly year round .
Anywhere I can target quality salmon and steelhead within a day's drive will have me standing in the water next to my son.

Look at the pictures I posted on the Alaskan Forum for a MM member who just returned from Alaska a week ago with his family, now that is some fishing success.

Nice Alaska pics, did get a 17lb chinook myself on the Puget Sound opener but the pics were blurry. I was wondering HH if you ever hit the salt water in CA? I like to run flasher/ cut plugs, coyotes and hoochies. We did OK in the sound last year got a; 20, 17, 12, 11 and a bunch in the 6-10 pound range. Lost some other brutes, but we should have a good shot at a tyee in Canada this year...

D-Man..... What part o' the sound do ya fish for blackmouths? I saw a couple of dandies jump on my way up to Pt. Orchard a few weeks ago. One by Blake Island was in the 15-18 lb range. It was busting through a ball of herring. The other, I damn near hit with the boat the Tolvia Shoal between McNeil and Fox Islands. That one was 10-12 lbs. I wanted to fish, but my Tolly wont troll down slow enough.

Hey there Bear, funny you ask, I just got back from pounding the water to a froth from Pt. Robinson down to the Pt. Defiance area. Worst day of fishing I've ever seen, not one fish. I did get a 16 pounder in the Canal two weeks ago. I may get out again before Nootka in the next two weeks. If you carry VHF, we should meet up out there sometime. I run a new Custom Weld Storm 21', Kodiak vortec 350, burgundy and charcoal with a hard top called "Sandyman". We are usually on channel 13.

D-Man..... I'll keep an eye out for ya. Most of the time when I'm that far north, I am in our 34' Tollycraft Tri-Cabin called "Lone Star". I havent fished up that way in quite a while. I use to knock the piss out of them a little farther south at Devil's Head, Johnson Point and Hunter Point, but that too has been a while. Hell, I have practically forgotten how to fish for blackmouth in the sound. Haahaaa.... I am gearing up for combat at Buoy 10 in a couple more weeks. Cant wait for that, my girls love it!!!!! There is just something about watching a little kid hook into a 30-40+ king and fight it until they cant handle it any more.

Good deal, let me know how buoy ten goes, I also fish down Tatsolo and Ketron sometimes. Might try Jefferson Point for coho this weekend. Need a tune up before Nootka.

Was up at the Narrows Marina today, and a dude had a nice 18 lb blackmouth. They were saying that the fishing is getting real good right now.

Did he say where? The Pt. D. boathouse said right out front of the slag has been the spot. I'm heading out again Sat. AM, if fishing holds up down there, that might be where I'll go.

Down in Corpus Christi, TX for business so just happened to have a free afternoon. King mac's and Bonito's

LAST EDITED ON Jul-23-06 AT 08:47AM (MST)[p]The kings do, but the bonitos (little tuna) are fun to catch but are best kept for shark bait. A lot of dark meat on the bonitos.

The fun part is you can catch so many different species of fish down here you never know what you will come across. Cost of fishing is very reasonable.
