Little Help - Green River, WY

I didn't know where else to turn, so I'm asking here...I have an antelope hunt in unit 91 in WY. I'm traveling from AZ, and I'm planning on staying for 5 days. Last year, I was done with my hunt in 2 days, and played golf in Rock Springs. Golf is not my thing...This year, I'll be staying in Rock Springs again, but I'm thinking about taking my fly fishing gear in case I finish early again. Any suggestions about the Green River? Or any other waters that could be fished? I'm only planning on having one day to fish, which I know isn't a lot, but any help, like patterns or access areas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Matt

LAST EDITED ON Aug-30-06 AT 02:25PM (MST)[p]Fishing on the Green River is beautiful that time of year. You will want to fish the River below Fontanelle Res. or you could even drive down to Utah and fish it below Flaming Gorge Dam. There are plenty of guide services that you can hire for the day and sell you all the gear you want in either place. You can float the River from Flaming Gorge to Little Hole in half a day or just drive down to Little Hole and you can walk upstream as far as you can the then fish back. You can buy a week long licence in Utah for pretty cheap. I don't know what it would cost you for a license in Wyo but I imagine it isn't alot either. The fishing is great at either place. A quick Google search will probably get you all the info and maps you need.

There are other lakes and streams around but the Green is by far the best fly fishing around. If you are interested in any of the others then it would be best to contact either the Wyoming or Utah fish and Game Good luck on your hunt and your fishing.

Give me a ring on my email [email protected] and I can help you out a bit. Roy has it pretty down pat. Below the FGD is by far the best option for you and you can not go wrong and it is BEA--beautiful!!. I can help you here if you do not want a guide.

Also a little closer area as there are some decent spots by the FR that I can point you to still fishing the green. Everything else is small in comparsion to the GR. It is well worth the trip to fish.

My #1 pick is below the FGD!!
