Ice Fishing

I was just wondering how many of you Ice-Fish. I am surprised that many hunters do not like it. Next to Deer and Elk, there is nothing better.

The lakes here in N.Utah are just starting to freeze. I will probably be heading out next weekend. Do any of you have any trips planned??

I like to ice fish as well. I've already gone 10 or 12 days this winter. Too many different lakes to ice fish in Eastern Idaho and not enough time.

I went up to Strawberry yesterday. No fish. Had fun seen a couple great bulls on the way up? Have you been having any luck?? Wish the bear lake would freeze/ Rutnbuck

I am not a big time ice fisher however when the cutts start running at bear lake OH Boy. I Hope it don't freeze. I will email you. Thanks

Rut,

Bearlake is one of my favorite places to fish. Do you troll or Jig? It is a hard lake to figure out. Whenever I think I have it figured out, I go fishless for a few trips.

Biggest cut I caught last year was right at 5lbs. Biggest mac was around 8lb. I know there is bigger; guess I will get over there next week for some cisco (bait)

Catch me a couple cisco and I will show you where to jig for the Cutts. We have had a few 18-20 lb macks I am not shure on the Cutts Haven't weighed them but we have cought some dandies. Maybe we can get out together. Rutnbuck

I will definately save you some cisco. The last 2 years have been great for them. It has been really easy to get 30 (sometimes in a few minutes). I am heading over there on Friday and I will get you some.

When you want to hit Bear Lake let me know; I can take my boat. I could definately use the help!

That is one nice mac (from your pic). I have never fished the Gorge but plan on giving it a try this year.

You guys ought to try the george through the ice. It can be amazing. I saw a pic the other day of a 32lb mack caught through the ice.

We are going up on feb 16-19th. I will let you know how I do.

Also, Ottercreek has been awesome this year. Lots of 2-3lb fish and some 5lbs.

I went up to Strawberry today. Was great fishing and nice to get out of the inverson. We cought a good mess. However most had to be returned. They were all cutts and most between the slot limit of 15-22 We cought 2 that went 20. Way fun. They smacked about anything we threw at them. I cooked one tonight. It was great.

I live ice fishing as well as hunting of anything that moves! Sometimes I get bored well fishing on a barren lake so I usually only last about 3 hours or so. That's probably why I've only caught 2 fish from the ice in my life (I'm only 18). But I keep going back anyway.
