I am hoping this year I will draw my turkey tag in Utah. They have upped the points and with 6 points I should have good odds at drawing.
My 1st question is I have always wanted a full size flying mount, I bow hunt but I am not against using my shotgun what would be the best for preserving the feathers when taking a turkey?
2nd question I also need to know a good taxidermist for turkeys does any one have any suggestions who I should use for quality work?

i'de take it straight to the taxidermist after kill. If that is not feezable then freeze it whole until you can get it to them. being very carefull with the tail feathers. If you absolutly want the breast meat then I would call your taxidermist and see what kind of insecion they like to make. Some go down the middle of the belly, some go from wing to wing on the belly side and some go from heal to heal on the belly side, and then "tube" out. Most cut the tail competely off and then reattache latter, But they would probably want to make that cut them selves. I usaually do the heal to heal cut for my clients, and i cut the tail off. But it depends on pose and condition of bird as well. Hope this helps.

A good tip I learnt from here on MM is to put the turkey head first into a leg of panty hose. It keeps the feathers all nice and tight. Just be sure to take one leg on the hunting trip only. Don't want to get into an accident on the way there and as you are knocked out cold, have the firemen "wonder".

Keep in mind that a lot of taxis dont use the real head and they end up looking fake. In the mount below he had the head deep freezed and then air brushed it.
