How many of you have been out?

I have been out 4 times in the past month and fishing has been
pretty good (Northern Utah).

Its my favorite thing to do in the winter. Anyone else into ice fishing??

This mornings trip was good (about 12 fish in 3 hours), but it
was -15!!

I have been to busy to get out. I'm glad to know someone is catching some. I wonder how Strawberry is doing?

Leaving in the morning for three days at Salmon Falls Res in Idaho. First time out this year. will post how we did. Hoping to catch a big walleye.

Where you been going woody? I just bought another Ice tent lastnight and about 40 dollars of fishin chit. Dont know why i havent been in 2 years. I was thinkin of going today but bed was so warm i couldnt see going out in the cold to sit on an ice cube.

Muzz:

I have been going to Woodruff Creek, above
my house. I have been to that other resevoir
(that I saw you at a few years back).

I have 3 times in the last couple of weeks.
It's been good fishing. We have been catching
rainbows and cuts

If you want to go with us, let me know.

Been a few times thinking about going this afternoon. Strawberry twice. Slow Slow, Echo near the Dam fish 10' caught some nice fish. One point couldn't keep them off my hook A couple went 2 lbs.
Hey Woody I was thinking of going to FG for the Burbot bash next weekend. However I haven't a clue how to do it. Any tips you willing to share? I know you have been up there. And how are they to eat? Info about the Burbot Bash on Bigfish.com Buckboard I think and ya can fish with 9 poles. How big is the average?
How ya been Muzz long time no see!! Where you been fishing.

Kelly:

Went twice last year. First time nothing; second time did pretty good. After the first time, a few guys gave us some good tips that really worked. Heres what I would do:

1: Fish at night (of course).

2: Radical Glow jigs (white, green, blue), 3" inches in length.

3: Tip your jigs with sucker meat.

4: Take 6 poles. Dead stick the 5 and jig the other pole. Make sure your poles are labeled and have your address.

5: Take a cheap camera with a flash. After fishing a glow jig for 30 minutes, snap a picture of it. The flash will "re-"charge" your jig. You will get a lot more hits this way.

6: There are also some small glow stick that you can buy off the internet. Some guys from Rock Springs were putting them just above their jig. They were catching more than we were using this method.

7: Make sure to get the Radical Glow jigs. I took some jigs that I bought from Cabelas. When I got them. I charged them and compared the glow between each brand. There was no comparison.

8: Use Crawdad scented Smelly Jelly. This worked really good.

9: Fish right off the bottom. 6" off the bottom is too much. No more than 1-2" off the bottom.

10: Fish near the cliffs in 10'-20' of water. Drill a lot of holes when you get there and move around.

We might hit it within the next few weeks. Let me know if you want to go.

BTW, we were fishing the Confluence area; east side....

Muzz/Kelly:

I just heard that the cisco were in at Bear Lake. I might
head over tonight and see if I can net a few. I was told that there is some safe ice around the east side. It doesn't go far (the ice), but I ahave heard its safe enough for netting.

Sage:

I will get some pic's up. Hopefully, later today...

Now I don't know which way to go Bear or Gorge. Always wanted to go Cisco. I heard no Ice on east side . Let me know how it goes!!

Alot depends on my sons schedual if I go or not will let ya know.

Kelly:

We went over to the east side last night. As of then, there is a small amount of ice. Enough to go out about 10-15. The ice was only about 1.5 - 2 inches. Therefore, I decided to stay in water that was about 3-4 feet. Thats were they usually run anyways.

We didn't see many, but they are just getting started. Mornings are best. My wife scooped up a few. I kept wandering around and everytime I did, they would go to the hole I drilled.

If you and Sage PM me your email address, I will send you a small video clip of the ice and a few cisco she got.

This is my daughters 1st fish through the ice.

I went to Rockport this morning the fishing is HOT! We caught 12 fish in about 2 hours and there's not many people fishing. Sorry no pics.

Deuce thanks for the report. Went by East Canyon a ton of fisherman. Buddy went said it was hot over the weekend. My brother went to Rockport also. Caught a few and a couple nice ones over 16" I went back to Echo had a few bites no fish. So Woody did you do Bear Lake? Lets see them Cisco. I went up during the Cisco Disco. Got there after everyone left. Only one guy left on the beach. To damn cold with the wind. So I didn't fish.

Rut:

Cisco Fishing was terrible; too much wind and no ice.

I think I am heading to Flaming Gorge in about 2 weeks. We
are going to try for some mac's and then hit the burbot as well.
