Once again it's time for the Make A Wish Foundation Trout Tourny held on my home waters of Lake Almanor. This year, my little Plumbing Co. will be sponsoring the team of, Myself, along with good friend and hard hunting Monster Muley member, Larrbo. We'll be starting out at 6AM Sat to either catch the heaviest limit of trout or catch the tourney's largest fish.

Last year, it took a solid 3+ lb average to place and a 7 lb or so Brown trout for top fish. Some of the very best local anglers gather here each year to compete, contribute to a good cause, and have a bunch of fun at the afterward luncheon, raffle, and awards ceremony.

I'm touching up my hooks and putting on new line. Hope the Charity does well and we bring home the Hardware!! :)

RELH and justr, i appreciate the best wishes! Thank You!!

Everybody who participated took away something from the tourney Sat. Larrbo and i had an awesome day though we found the fishing to be particularly tough, we didn't place. That was really a small part of the day though, the weather was beautiful, the people were more than great, and as always, you just about can't beat a day on the lake with a good partner.

AS far as the fish caught, only 15, out of the 90 fisherman registered, bothered to even weigh in one or more fish. 5th place was taken with a 3 fish bag, about 9 lbs total and 1st place honors was taken with a 5 fish limit of just over 13 pounds. Big fish this year was only a 3.8 pound rainbow.

I've contributed, sponsored, and fished all but the first tourny and believe that this was the toughest fishing to be had yet. We started out in a well known but little fished honey hole. Down 42 feet, there's a huge cool water spring coming up and plenty of baitfish. We marked BIG fish all day, laughed our asses off, but had little to show for our efforts. Our idea was to go big or go home. That was our mantra, we were the guys to get the job done! Right! :)

Side note, something i didn't have and thought pretty neat was won with a raffle ticket. A very nice quality "Standard Gage" micrometer and dial caliper set. Cool! As i said and even if not your ticket number called or huge bag of fish weighed, all those who participated in this Annual Make A Wish Foundation tourney, took home something! Straight up!!

First Sat in August...Every Year! We'd love to have more participants. It get's bigger and better every year!!

Well, another great day on Lake Almanor fishing with my freind Sage in the trout tourney. It is kind of hard seeing the fish show up on the fish finder and they refuse to take the bait. Sage gave me a bad time for not bringing my underwater camera to see why they weren't hitting our expertly baited hooks. We fished a place where I got a couple of my grandaughters 5+ pound brown trout on the July 4th weekend. Anyway even though we didn't bring in the big fish, we felt like winners because it was a great cause to be a part of. Thanks Sage for the day.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-08-10 AT 08:48PM (MST)[p]Thanks for the report guys. I was just looking at Lake Almanor on google earth this afternoon. I sure had some good times duck hunting there in the 1970s. Also the lake at Westwood and Eagle Lake, among others.
