We have a guided fishing trip coming up to Weis Lake, Alabama. We have never done a fully guided trip like this and was wondering if tipping is the norm as in guide hunting or what? If tipping is the norm how is the tipping based? We will be fishing 5 full days, tip at the end or each day? Any insight would be appreciated.

As a fishing guide myself I would 100% tip your fishing guide. The ammount would depend on how well they do as a guide, and i would tip all at once at the end of the trip unless you are going to have multiple guides through out your trip. Just my 2 cents.

+1. I am a guide also and the amount depends on a few things. Does the price of your trip include terminal tackle (lures, flies, leaders, tippet, etc.) or is the guide providing? Is it a boat trip with a motor involved, a float trip or walking, wade trip? Is the guide providing lunch? These are all things to consider. A guide incurs some considerable expense if he is providing the tackle, food, gas, using his vehicle to pick you up, drop you off, etc. Any where from 50-100 a day is the norm for me, sometimes more, sometimes less. And that is for 1-2 people. If a guide is guiding more than 2 people at once it can become pretty stressful real quick. Hope this helps.

Not a guide but when in Alaska we tipped the guide on the trip and effort put out. I always tipped 25 or so per 6 hour trip. Don't know if that good or not but i spent like 200 on my whole trip in tips. They need the extras with all the gear gas and bait they use. Enjoy and show some pictures of your catch.Ryan

LAST EDITED ON Jan-23-11 AT 11:18AM (MST)[p]This is 5 days fully guided with all fishing gear/tackle included along with bass boat and guide. We show up at his lake shore shop and off we go. Not sure about food and drinks. This is also a sun up to sun down deal. The rates are not cheap my any means, hence as it shouldn't be with all that is being provided. The guide is also the owner. Thanks for all the input.
