any of you guys have a kayak? am looking into maybe getting one to fish the kelp beds and bays and lakes etc,,,, pro's? con's? one thing i wonder about is in rougher water do you spend more time keeping the boat in position to fish than you do fishing,,,,

I have three yaks and use them all the time to fish out of.I use sit on top only in warm or extreme cold water, you need a wetsuit when the water is colder. Ocean kayak in the Malibu two models. You can use them as single or two man boats. Ive had them for a long time now and was looking the other day at new ones and the design is still the exact same. No water to rough for them as we also use them to surf and river run. When fishing calm water in fresh or salt I prefer to fish only one per boat and its easy to hold your position with the paddle on your lap. When it is rough we fish two per boat and have one person always holding the yak in position, it works great. Dont get caught up in all the extra crap you can put on your yak as it seems to get in the way, keep it simple as its easy to wash all the fish blood out. You can also use them to cross certain un- named rivers in Idaho to reach land locked Whitetail honey holes. Always wear your PFD, GOOD LUCK!! BH1
