Youth hunt?

I was planning on taking my 10yr old son out for his first chucker hunt next weekend here in Utah. Got out to check an area that usally holds birds and found that it had burned. My questin is, Will the birds still be here? If they are gone then I am stummped on where to take him. Any suggetions where to start would really help me and him out. Thanks
