Season opened last week and have been seeing some nice speed goats, but nothing really exceptional. Kept looking in all the usual places, hay fields, hill tops and sagebrush flats around the INL site and decided to go big or stay home.

Found this guy this morning and decided he was the one. Only 14" long and has a broken tip, but with 5.5" prongs and 6+" mass it let him score really well. Thanks to my RealTree Max-1 camo, I had them all around me as close as 11 yards! Perfect behind the shoulder shot at 128 yards and he was mine.

This is my 14th antelope with my White muzzlloaders.

Joel,

Well, you obviously went big with this guy. What a great muzz buck ! I didn't realize Idaho grew antelope that good :)

Congratulations ! 14 antelope taken with muzzleloaders is no small feat. Of course, you're using Whites, so that is certainly an advantage. I'm assuming you used one of your Whitetails ? .45 or .50 cal ? Which bullet ?

Are you going to mount that buck ? or euro him ?

Good Job,
Cory

All my muzzleloaders are 50's now, and I eliminated the 54's and 58's. This was a new Whitetail (to me anyway, old serial #) so figured I had better sight it in and get with the program. The original Williams sights with that fine gold bead make great antelope shooters.

I just use 100 grains of Pyrodex P and an RWS cap for all my loads. The all lead conical rule here in Idaho has me shooting either the 385 gr Hornady Great Plains or 385 Traditions (basically the exact same bullet). Flies great, very easy to load and accurate as the dickens in every gun I've got.

My wife says I have too many mounts now, especially with another half dozen from Africa on the way. This will be a Euro or plaque.
