I am new to muzzleloading and was trying to site in my gun using a scope. I have been all over the target at 50 and 100 yards. At 25 yds I'm about 2" high on center. Can anyone tell me where it might hit at a 100yds.
I am shooting 100 grains with TC shock waves 300 gr

LAST EDITED ON Oct-19-13 AT 07:48AM (MST)[p]Just like any other sighting in process, it could be a loose scope, it could be a bad scope, it could be your gun doesn't like the load of powder, or projectile used. (It could even be a bad shooter :)) 25 yards doesn't really give enough room for problems to show themselves. Take the scope off, and shoot with open sights, and see if you have the same problems. That will indicate if there is scope problems. Check for proper tightness on scope and muzzleloader, then try different powder charges and projectiles. It is a frustrating process at times. If you know others with components, most are usually willing to share a few of what they use, so you don't have to break the bank trying different things. In the long run, you will gain confidence in your setup, and will know what to expect when hunting. Good luck, it's all part of the experience.

I would think that 2" high at 25 would still have you hitting high at 100 yards with your load.

venor, ergo sum (I hunt, therefore I am)

If its a crap shoot past 25 yards, it doesn't matter how it shoots at 25.

Check scope/mounts, etc.

Play around with powder charges and projectiles. With a scope you should be able to shoot 1-1.5" groups pretty easy out to 100 yards unless your gun is a real dog. Start at 80-90gr and work up from there.
