Powder Question

Is there any benefit in shooting FFF powder to FF powder in a 24 inch barrel rifle ?
I am using triple 777.

I would say the answer to that question is: your gun will give you the answer. In other words, in some guns, there would be and in some there wouldn't.

For example, I use fffg in my renegade as I feel that the smaller granule makes the transition into the "sidelock" area better. In my inlines, I use ffg. That said, there are probably some inlines that will shoot better with fffg with some bullets in certain amounts.

That is what is so great about muzzleloading, there is no end to the experimentation. What works well in one gun, might not in another. It is also th most confounding aspect of muzzleloading!

I got a new CVA Wolf that I need to play with and get the best out of it . Planning on a Colorado deer hunt for 2014 and maybe a cow elk as I build points for a bull .
I bought the Williams ghost ring peep sight for it but have not shot it yet.

Even though not recommended!

I like the 3fff!

I used to know of places worth Hiking in to for Elk & Deer!
Thanks to Illegal Bastards & the USFS not enforcing Rules you can Zing in to them Places on Wheelers now & not see a Damn thing!
But by GAWD it don't take long for them U-Tards to get there with all the Unethical BS and the New Technology!

Makes sinse to me that in my 24 inch barrel rifle,I would get more complete powder burn with 90 grains of FFF powder compared to 100 grains of FF powder .

Not sure if that is true or not. Someone who knows more than I might jump in, but you are actually shooting very close to the same amount of powder 90 gr of fffg vs. 100 gr of ffg if you were to compare the WEIGHTS of the two loads (instead of volume). It is just packed down into a smaller volume because of the smaller grain size. Whether or not the smaller grain size will combust easier and more fully is a question I don't know the answer to. Plus at moderate loads (90-100 gr) the difference would probably be minimal. If there is any difference I would think you might have to go up to 120 grs or so to see any real difference (a charge I don't want to shoot with fffg!)
