I'm always gathering info, but- after white muzzle loaders sold, how was the quality of the newer model 91's?

Why did the company quit making their muzzle loaders? Seems to me, the guy who made them could open a shop and build these sought after muzzle loaders and get top dollar for them?

Any input?

I've been reading up on White muzzy's also and found an article that said they eventually closed shop because they couldn't pay the bills for the barrels. So it sounded to me like it was a business issue as opposed to a quality product issues. I've not seen many, if any, bad posts on White muzzle loader quality.

I have heard of several guys that have had the stocks break. But that can happen to any gun. Ron

We had a white 91 that the action kept breaking..... replaced it twice....got rid of it and bought a knight and never looked back!

Broken neck, I asked Doc White that exact question a couple of years ago. What I was told was that they couldn't compete with China. Doc told me, IIRC, that he had women that could assemble a rifle in 15 minutes, they were paid $14.00/hr labor, and the Chinese were being paid something on the order of $1.40/day.

It is still a shame to me. There will never be a muzzleloader that will compete with the Whites were at their price point. Never.

Bought one 18-20 years ago and have bagged numerous game with it and still shoot it today. Been one great rifle.

I just spoke with Doc a few times over the last couple of weeks regarding a Peep Sight mounting issue. He went out of his way to give me some tips on installation, for my G-Series Whitetail SS,
50 cal. What a tack driver it is. Just glad I bought a boatload of Lead before he went under.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-12-14 AT 08:08AM (MST)[p]I bought a .54 Whitetail in 96' with a synthetic stock. Have never had a lick of trouble with it. It's now doing split duty with a T/C Pro hunter. Love them both.
