I have a thompson bonecollector .50 cal. Have been shooting 2 50 grain pyrodex with sabot and scope, obviously cant use them in CO. Can any one help me get started with granular powder and bullet for CO.

I have had good luck shooting the Hornaday FPB in 350 grain backed with 95 grains of BH 209 powder, and a CCI 209M or Federal 209A primer out of my Triumph, killed several elk with this load.

3rd vote for the Hornady 350 gr FPB with Blackhorn 209 at 90-100 grains (by volume)

Generally you have to shoot a bullet with a rear bell on it like FPBs, powerbelts or thors to get good accuracy with a conical. If you have time and want to experiment, you might be lucky and have a gun that would shoot flat based conicals, but I won't waste much time on them if they don't shoot well quickly
