Howdy,

I have never hunted with a muzzleloader and it looks as if I will have an opportunity to do so in the upcoming big game seasons. I am fairly ignorant of the weapons that are out there. Naturally I would like as accurate a weapon as possible. Which weapons are the most accurate typically? Knight, CVA, TC etc.? Which weapons typically have the best sites on them?

Much thanks,

Ben

I have a TC omega that is extremely accurate as well as a CVA Accura. Most muzzleloaders will shoot well with the right load. Thompson center guns tend to be better for sabots than conical bullets but mine shoots them both well. It really just depends on your budget and what feels good in your hands. CVA will be cheaper than TC but CVA's guns are well built as of late. Good luck in your decision

Sometimes the choice of muzzleloader can depend on where you will or might hunt with it. For example, here in WA where I live, we can not currently use 209 primers for ignition, only percussion caps or flintlock, and the cap or nipple must be exposed to the elements. In Colorado you need a gun that can shoot full bore bullets because you can't use sabots. In a few places there are no restrictions to speak of, and you can use any ignition and have a variable power scope on your muzzleloader too. Because of these issues I have more than one muzzleloader.

I own three CVA inline rifles and I just bought a T/C Imact all are equal in accuracy ,the CVA with the easy out breech is a plus but not a big deal over the T/C.
The T/C is made in ameica if that helps with your decision.

I am CVA guy. Some thoughts on CVA.
Bergera barrels and some models are hand honed adding to the quaility. Dam fine shooter.
That finger breech plug is the chit! Easy, easy, easy...
Trigger and hammer have a tuned feel.
Well balanced and feel good in the hands.
Weak point would be the stock ram rod and the pinch point between the ramrod and forearm as you need to have the screw adjusted just right or the rod will be loose falling out or to dam tight and won't seat proper.

Have fun choosing!!!
