LAST EDITED ON May-03-14 AT 10:05PM (MST)[p]Any of ya guys got one? Was looking for some practical input from anyone that has experience with this rifle and/or the regular Mountaineer?

Have only had T/C's before, and I've sold two out of the three...the omega shot well but was a pig of a gun with the heavy laminate stock; the triumph and I never really got along very well (just didn't like it); still have my old firehawk for sentimental purposes :)

Anyway, drew a couple muzzy tags this season, and am really considering either this UL or possibly the Mountaineer.

Looking at the scope configured 209 version... I have Zeiss Conquest off the triumph with the rapid Z 600 that needs a new mount to ride ;)

If I can get around 2000 fps with the 290gr Barnes, with a 100 yard zero the graduations correlate almost exactly to 150, 200, 250 and 300 at the upper end of the power spectrum (8-10x) at my typical hunting altitudes.

If anyone wants to share their insight and experience with these two Knights, it would be most appreciated.

Thanks and Cheers'

Adam

**edit---Never tried it before, but also thinking of using the Blackhorn powder.

Thanks GraySage, I actually found that guy's stuff after I made this post. He (Sabotloader) and another guy named Grouse do really seem to like these ultralite's, even going as far as hunting the general firearms seasons with them.

I think I'm going to go for the UL as well over the mountaineer, should finish well under 7.5 lbs scoped.

Cant find any for sale in the bare primer version (only plastic jacket) except directly from Knight, which show a bit higher price tag...but that way I could have them tap the muzzle for a front sight straight away (for receiver aperture setup) and not have to mess with it later.

Anyway, thanks again, I'll report back when the thing gets here and the rig is dialed.

Anyone else's input about this rifle is still most welcome

Thanks and Cheers'

Sounds good.
With two knight disc extremes already, I would not hesitate to get the Ultra Lite if I could configure it for where I wanted to hunt. Like for Colorado, or for where I now live in WA. I like the bare primer option and the #11 cap system seems to work well too, just a bit expensive to have everything to convert from one system to the other. They are solid guns with what appears to be a stable company standing behind them at least for now. The barrels are very good.

I have had both however I haven't shot the Ultra lite yet. Bought both of these 2nd hand thinking I'd be hunting with the Mountaineer but after I bought the Ultra Lite, I sold the Mountaineer as the Ultra Lite just felt so good. Not that the Mountaineer was bad, but I liked the UL much better. I have also read and emailed a bit with Sabotloader and his posts are very informative and more or less convinced me to get a UL. I may use my UL this year for the CO rifle season since I'd be able to scope it. I also have bought a few Whites that are supposed to be great shooters so I'll decide which to use after I can get out and shoot them a bit.
