I'm wanting to start using bh 209 instead of pellets. I'm curious to hear from those who use it what sabots you use and how much powder. I shoot a T/C pro hunter fx in .50 caliber. As far as primers go I'm planning on using the recommended primers (CCI 209M or Federal 209a). Look forward to hearing back for you guys. Thanks.

Out of my triumph with Barnes sabots it likes 100 grains of 209. But my knight likes 110 grains with the Barnes sabot. When I use the Hornaday FBP conical they shoot the best with 95 grains.

In my tc I shoot 290tmz with harvester sabots over 115gr volume. I measure my powder and use 80gr by weight. Also get yourself a spin jag. They work amazing.

I've had some luck with 110 grains and a Barns 250 T-EZ.
Each gun is different, try experimenting with 90 to 115 grains, and see what works best in your gun.

Get the bullet or bullets you think you want to shoot and a number of different sabots. Then start at 90 grains by vol up to about 110 grains of powder. shoot the different bullet/sabot combinations until you find one you like. If none shoot good get some more bullets. You might want to try the 250 or 300 grain XTP. XTP's are known to shoot good groups and be devastating on deer.
In my guns (T/C pro hunter and Accura V2) for 44cal 300 grain XTP my accura V2 likes a harvester Green Crush Rib. for 250 grain SST/ML my Pro hunter likes a Thompson Center Super Glide sabot. 100 grains by vol of BH 209 in both bullet/sabot combinations.

Don't forget to get yourself a drill bit to clean your flash channel every 3 to 6 shots. If you don't your flash channel will clog up and you will start having miss fires etc,. If you FX is like my Pro hunter the drill bit is a .116 in size, put some electrical tape around it numerous times to give you something to hold onto.
