I am fairly new to muzzleloader shooting, and bought a barrel for my New England SB-2 in 50 cal., about 3 years ago. Last year I hunted with this rig, probly shot it about 20 times with 2-50 grain 777 pellets and 250 grain sabot. This past winter when I was changing the barrels, back to a rifle, I noticed the scope on my muzzle barrel, showed blistering on the bottom, close to the breech plug. Has anyone else experinced this? I don't notice any fire escaping or smoke, but something is happening.

I always use one of those velcro attached scope protectors on my muzzys. They wrap around the scope above the breech plug and keep the scope clean.
