Just wondering if any one had taken these new bullets to the range yet? Their website tells that these bullets are available now and I was wondering if any one had any experience shooting them.

I don't find anyone selling them yet. Midway is going to email me when they get some. Do you see anywhere you can order them?

No, I have not. I am looking to make a purchase post haste. Our group is interested in doing a little experimenting with different powders, different bullets in various weights, and more. For years we have been a solid part of the Power Belt team but we are going to expand our horizons this late summer to be more prepared for the opening day in Colorado (black powder). I killed a cow elk back in 2010 with a Thor 300 grain bullet and I like them when I use my Encore in .50. Looking forward in trying the new Federal when it gets its distribution to retailers. Will keep you informed about the availability and also the performance of this new one. Cow Tag

Federal has us all interested but it seems that only god knows and he does not care when they are available. Here is a list of those I have called for when I could buy some.
1. Federal......they sluffed me off and said the wholesalers made that decision.
2. Cabellas.....The pirky young lady said she could not find out when they might get them. Seems to me that their supplier would know a projected avail date.
3. Bass pro....the same.
4. Midway will email me but their customer service said they had no way to get a definite..when!
I am a lifelong fan of federal since shooting their deer slugs as a kid in a smoothbore. I think their marketing dept has their heads up their asses.I think lots of these companies have lots of part time mgt.

Another week has passed and I was wondering if anyone had purchased their first package of the new Federal muzzle loader copper bullets as of yet? Wonder if they are even shipped from the manufacturer to the wholesalers and then to retailers? Would like to practice shoot these new Federals before elk hunting season in Colorado gets close. I like the Hornady all copper bullets in 350 grain. I believe the new Federals to be quite similar to the Hornadys---probably. Cow Tag

If you are talking about the Hornady FPBs, the new Federal should be a lot tougher bullet. The FPBs are a lead alloy covered with a thin layer of copper. The new federals are solid copper, like a barnes bullet.

I did not know that there was that much difference between the Hornady and the new Federal. Wish the Federals were available to the shooting public at this time. I harvested two cow elk with the all copper Thor bullet within the last five years and I like them. Always looking for something new, better, improved, the next big thing. Thank you for describing the new Federal compared to the Hornady FPB. I practiced my shooting skills yesterday and used the FPB bullet and they performed accurately at 100 yards using my TC Encore .50.

The Thor bullet is constructed almost exactly like the new Federals, so if your gun shoots the Thors well, there would not be any reason to switch (unless you can't get the Thors)

I like the FPB 350 too for elk and between my brother and I have taken 3 elk with them. But both the Thor and new federal are tougher bullets.

Here is an email Federal sent to me about the new bullet:

"Hi David, Thank you for your inquiry regarding Federal load PMZ50TC1 - this is new product for us - we have not started manufacturing this product yet."

Nope. Emailed them last week as to when they would be available, so far no answer
