Tx Hunter

Well if I had anything good to tell, you would have sure heard it! However, I would have to post it in the archery section.

Had my White muzzy shooting sweet, but a month from the season, our private ranch hunt fell through. Was going with a friend that is part owner of a private ranch, but there was a death in the family and now the ranch is in dispute. Anyway, that option fell through and instead of hunting the same unit on public (that I didn't know), we decided to turn our tags back in and get OTC public land archery tags for an area I was familiar with. And because we both already had our days off from work booked, we had to hunt the muzzy season with a bow. Long story short, we had some bugling, but never got closer than 300 yards from a bull and cows would not come our way either. Never drew my bow.

Dang. Rough year.
Mine wasn't much better. It was a warm dry hunt with little elk activity where I was. Tag soup!

Went bow hunting this year since I didn't have enough point points for ML bull. Ran into 8 bulls, 2 within bow range. Would have shot at 1 with a ML, but not good enough for an arrow. Tag soup sucks, but getting inside 40 yards with any weapon is still a thrill. I'll have 1 PP this year, so I will definately apply for the ML bull tag this year. For some reason the peak of the rut seems to be in the middle of ML season, at least for the area I hunt.
