I've been out of the game for a while but have drawn a muzzy tag for deer this year and am looking for advice from any Knight owners. I have the Thumbhole Extreme, but haven't used it in 8 years and I know there's new components out there.
Any help for an old schooler would be much appreciated!

My 50 Cal Knight Bighorn likes 290 grain hollow point Power Belts with 90 grains of Triple Seven.

What state are you hunting?
Are there any restrictions on what ignition system you can use?
What powder do you normally use?
Depending on what the answers are, I'm sure there will be some great load suggestions coming.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-03-15 AT 04:27PM (MST)[p]The restrictions on bullets where you hunt (or lack of) will determine what I recommend on bullet.

However, if you can buy the conversion breechplug for Blackhorn 209 powder and bare 209 primers, I would recommend it. 90-95 gr of that is all I have ever needed for elk. However anything from 80 grains to 110 grains would be OK.

It works well in my Knight LRH which is basically an extreme with some modifications. I can shoot my Knight up to 30 times without having to swab once between shots.

Sorry for leaving out info. I'm in Utah, drew Pahvant deer. I've been out of the game for a while, figured there'd be new components since Iwas last in it. I used to shoot two pellets, 209 primer and 290gr power belts.

If your gun can safely shoot Blackhorn 209 powder, I'd go that direction first and then find a bullet to work with it.

There is a learning curve with Blackhorn209 Powder, it is pretty expensive, but it does shoot with less fouling once you get everything right.
However if a guy doesn't want to change to the appropriate breech plug etc. there is usually good success with about 110 grains of loose Triple 7 and any decent 250 to 300 grain bullet in a sabot. If your old load used pyrodex, you will get more speed with Triple7 or Blackhorn.
The Barnes TEZ or TMZ is a much better preforming/reliable bullet than the old powerbelt. Heck if nothing else, just test the Barnes bullets in 250 or 290 grain over your old load to see how that does.
Be glad to help anyway I can.
