The rule book says sabots are OK but have to be bigger than 40 caliber, right? Are pellets and 209 primers then legal?
I have a set up legal for Idaho where we don't allow sabots, or 209 primers and only allow "loose" blackpowder. Also no scopes. It appears Utah allows 1x scopes. I am pretty comfortable with loose powder, 385 grain power belts and musket primers with my open sites to about 125 yards (deer).
I like the idea of the scope but not sure about changing everything else. I can convert my Bighorn to shoot the 209's if needed. I have a bull tag this fall. Any thoughts on changing over to sabots/pellets/209's (if they are in fact legal in Utah) vs. keeping the set up I have?
