So im thinking of the accura or the wolf. Either way what is with the shim kit for the headspacing? Is this with all there muzzleloaders or there older ones? And the bh 209 breech plug, Whats the difference with the one the gun comes with and the 209 breech? Just the size hole or something special?

1.) Accura (never shot a Wolf though they might shoot just as good)
2.)I Shimmed mine but it's old school...zero blowback now:)
3.)I never shot bh but sounds like the small investment in the proper breech plug would be well worth it.

I'm sure Frontier G. could better answer your questions as he seems to have a lot of experience with all you have questioned. I know he's helped me become more knowledgeable.

Good Luck

Much more difference than just the hole in the plug.

If you are shooting blackhorn209, get the plug and be done with it.

These will fit into the primer hole and make for a blowby free primer set up. Replace every 40 shots or so.

Now adjusting using the actual shim kit cva sells, this is a little slower paced but doesn't ever need replacing.

part 2

if you order the western powders breech plug, it comes with the bh209 plug, o rings and a great cleaning tool for the breech plugs flash channel.

The Blackhorn209 breech plug has a deep dish that brings the powder closer to the primers heat which in turn helps eliminate hang / no fires. Any time you get a hang fire, make sure you re-seat your bullet as a primer IS strong enough to unseat the projectile anywhere from 5 to 8 inches off the charge.

Blackhorn209 plug uses a freer flowing 1/8" flash channel VS the factory 3mm flash channel.

Clean breech plug with 1/8" drill bit after every 10 shots or so to keep primer heat flow consistent.

Thanks! This stuff seems to be getting pretty complicated anymore. Whats the long grove on the primer side of the breech? Whats its purpose?

It's for the Breech Plug Wrench, required for initial tightening and fitting. It comes with the BH209 Breech Plug kit.
