BH209 & Barrel Cleaning

I'm new to using Blackhorn-209. BH recommends using a nylon brush for scrubbing the barrel. I discovered that if I use a nylon brush as recommended, then my patches start to come out very clean in short order. However, I then tried scrubbing a few times with a bronze brush, and my patches would once again come out looking filthy. So is a nylon brush really getting it adequately clean? Can someone explain this to me.

Also, is the BH209 solvent the best to use, or has anyone found anything better? I just used my Hoppes #9 last time. Any suggestions?

Could be a chemical reaction with the bronze brush. I even get that with a brass cleaning jag some times.

I use birchwood casey 2 in 1 bore scrubber as the smell is no where near as toxic as the bh209 cleaner, plus it seems to do better and its a one and done kind of product as it protects against rust.

I do the same just use old hoppes #9 works good for me. and the bronze brush will leave the bronze color in the bore. and just a good gun oil to lube.

Thanks for the input. If it was just the copper in the brush reacting with the solvent, wouldn't the patches come out light blue or green? These things were coming out quite black every time I scrubbed with the bronze brush, but they were coming out clean when I only scrubbed with nylon. It's a stainless barrel by the way. Am I being too anal?

Brass bore brushes clean better.
I recommend Birchwood-Casey 2 in 1 Spray Bore Cleaner also. So do my kids, wife and dog. It even has a wee-bit of rust inhibitor in it. That's great when in the hunting woods and cabin.

I use a brass brush and Hoppe's #9.
Mostly....,but do use BC or gun scrubber to really clean it out in fall after shooting is done.
I oil it too.
Trying to get a Bore-snake to fit thru it for in the field work, but it's too tight.
I always have it fouled before trying to fill a tag.
