I was having the exact same issue in my Knight this morning using both 90 and 100 grains of BH209. Usually this means pressure problems? I am about ready to give up on the stuff and go back to the safe and nasty Pyrodex or 777.

On a plunger style gun like a Knight Bighorn this could be dangerous if pieces of primer come flying out and get embedded in your face.

In bolt action type guns like the Disc Extreme or Rem 700 ML, it may not be as dangerous but could be a sign that you have a worn flash hole in the breech plug that is allowing excessive back pressure. At least one frequent muzzleloader shooter has found that a flash hole could be eroded enough to affect blowback and accuracy in about 100 - 130 shots using 209 shotshell primers.

Here's another Question?

I had Fred Arnold Convert/do the 209 Conversion on an Older Remington ML 700 54 Caliber Bolt!

I haven't installed it in the 54 caliber yet!

Are the 50 & 54 Bolts/Breech Plugs the Same & will they Interchange & work in either Gun? (50 & 54?)

I've Lost Fred's Phone number,anybody got it?

yes very dangerous and one reason why western powders does not support plunger style rifles shooting the powder.

The conversion should fix you right up.

I talked with Fred on the Phone this afternoon!

He Claims the Bolts/Bolt Conversion is the same!

But the Breech Plug is different between the 50 & the 54!
